Director / Sr. Director, Strategic Finance

About the Company

Our client is a rapidly scaling SaaS company operating at the intersection of media, data, and artificial intelligence. Our platform helps customers unlock the power of data and automation to drive smarter decisions and more efficient operations.

As they expand our offerings—including new AI-driven products and pricing models—we’re seeking a Director or Senior Director of Strategic Finance to help steer financial strategy, inform product and go-to-market decisions, and build the infrastructure that supports our next stage of growth.

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact, hands-on role for a finance leader who thrives on connecting strategy, operations, and analytics. You will own forecasting, budgeting, and investment planning—and play a critical role in shaping how we price, launch, and scale our next generation of AI solutions.

You’ll be a strategic partner to the executive team, influencing company direction through financial insight, rigorous analysis, and data-driven recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Planning

  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning process, building driver-based models that connect bookings, ARR, and cash flow.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly forecasts with variance analysis and clear, actionable insights.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate AI product investments, ROI models, and pricing strategies.
  • Build and maintain multi-scenario financial models to support decision-making and board discussions.

AI & Pricing Strategy

  • Collaborate with product and commercial teams to develop pricing frameworks for AI-powered offerings, balancing customer value, cost, and market positioning.
  • Analyze AI feature adoption, cost of compute, and margin impact, and recommend monetization structures (consumption-based, seat-based, tiered, etc.).
  • Evaluate ROI and payback on AI infrastructure investments and data-driven automation initiatives.

Operational & GTM Insights

  • Develop KPI dashboards across ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, pipeline conversion, and churn.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to connect financial outcomes with GTM efficiency and retention.
  • Support margin expansion through analysis of services utilization, delivery cost, and project profitability.
  • Lead pricing and profitability analyses by customer segment, product line, and geography.

Systems, Data & Reporting

  • Build automated, scalable reporting processes and ensure alignment between CRM, ERP, and BI systems.
  • Integrate financial and operational data to deliver real-time visibility into business performance.
  • Drive improvements in forecast accuracy, financial processes, and data integrity across functions.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, translating financial data into clear business narratives.
  • Partner with product, revenue, and operations leaders to drive accountability and resource efficiency.
  • Support board and investor reporting, providing data-backed insights on performance and value creation.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and operational excellence within the finance function.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, or strategic finance roles—preferably within SaaS, AI, or data-driven technology companies.
  • Proven ability to build driver-based, multi-scenario financial models and connect financials to business strategy.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS and AI-centric metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, gross margin, compute cost, etc.).
  • Experience designing or supporting pricing and monetization strategies, ideally for AI or data products.
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and storytelling skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI/Fabric, or similar tools.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, scaling environment with evolving structures and priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA a plus.

What Success Looks Like

  • Accurate, forward-looking forecasts that drive company decisions.
  • Clear ROI frameworks for AI product investments and pricing.
  • Increased visibility into GTM performance and margin expansion opportunities.
  • Streamlined reporting processes and cross-functional financial accountability.
  • A finance function that enables faster, smarter strategic choices.

Location

  • Flexible within the United States.
  • Hybrid or remote options available depending on candidate preference.

Compensation is DOE and location $175,000-$200,000 + bonus
